This all began by accident. I learned to make jewelry in Los Angeles when, as a twenty-something, Anthropologie was an aspirational store I couldn’t afford. I realized that for half the price, I could make the jewelry myself, with real stones, silver, and gold. I loved dismantling vintage jewelry and re-creating one-of-a-kind pieces. Soon after, people began donating the forgotten contents of their jewelry boxes. This steamrolled into me collecting giants bags of costume jewelry from every dead grandmother in America. Ever the sustainable artist, I repurposed pieces I couldn’t use in jewelry by gluing them onto paintings. Eventually, I made entire “paintings” from jewelry – a mixed-media extravaganza!
